The house, originally known as Küffner’s House and later as Rotes Herz (The Red Heart), is situated in the centre of the spa zone of Karlovy Vary and as one of the oldest buildings in the city, it has been standing in the renowned Stará Louka (Old Meadow) Street on the left bank of the Teplá River since the mid 18th century.

The undoubtedly conspicuous house received its present-day appearance as a result of a reconstruction carried out in the early 20th century in Historicist style, which was typical for the architecture of the spa town in those days. The last renovation of the interiors was completed quite recently, i.e. at the turn of the millennium.

Description
To our guests we offer comfortable accommodation in 15 double rooms and 4 single rooms. The hotel is equipped with a modern lift. Free WiFi Internet access and a smoke-free hotel environment are also a matter of course. Guests are welcome to bring their small pets to the hotel and the guest rooms at a minor charge.
In addition, we provide secretarial services, safekeeping of valuables, as well laundry and ironing services to our guests. Our complaisant staff will readily arrange spa treatment and procedures upon request.
Several parking spaces are available directly at the hotel, which is rather unusual in the spa zone. Moreover, we are able to arrange parking for additional vehicles within a distance of 300 metres from the hotel.

Accommadation

All guest rooms are fitted with quality furniture, solid beds and bedside tables, a comfortable sitting area, an en-suite bathroom with a shower or a bathtub and a hairdryer. Each guest room is equipped with a satellite TV, an electronic alarm clock, a telephone, and a refrigerator. Most guest rooms have a balcony facing the southeast with a marvellous view of the world-famous spa promenade, which is something not every hotel in the neighbourhood may offer to its guests.

Dining

Restaurant Palacký has two dining rooms that are situated above each other and thereby create an impression of an atrium with a glass gallery, from which guests may enjoy a view of the restaurant room below. The capacity of the restaurant room on the ground floor is 30 seats. The gallery restaurant room offers an additional capacity of 36 seats and the summer terrace another 40 seats. The price for accommodation includes a buffet-style breakfast.

In addition, the guests may order half board or full board, which allows them to assemble their own three-course menu. Breakfast is also offered to guests who are not staying at our hotel.
The restaurant menu created by our experienced executive chef may boast a variegated culinary selection of exquisite specialities of modern world cuisine. Our waiting staff is at your service and ready to recommend premium wines of world brands to our delicious cuisine.

In the high season from spring to autumn, guests may sit and relax in the outside café on the pedestrian zone in front of Hotel Palacký. Table service in the outside café is provided by our hotel waiting staff. Every year at the turn of June and July, when the city hosts the annual Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the outside café becomes an attractive spot where you may meet many film stars and celebrities.

Destination description
Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) is a spa city situated in western Bohemia, Czech Republic, on the confluence of the rivers Ohře and Teplá, approximately 130 km (81 mi) west of Prague (Praha). It is named after King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, who founded the city in 1370. It is historically famous for its hot springs (13 main springs, about 300 smaller springs, and the warm-water Teplá River).

In the 19th century, it became a popular tourist destination, especially for international celebrities visiting for spa treatment. The city is also known for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the popular Czech liqueur Karlovarská Becherovka. The glass manufacturer Moser Glass is located in Karlovy Vary. The city has also given its name to the famous delicacy known as "Carlsbad plums". These plums (usually Quetsch) are candied in hot syrup, then halved and stuffed into dried damsons; this gives them a very intense flavour.
The city has been used as the location for a number of film-shoots, including the 2006 films Last Holiday and box-office hit Casino Royale, both of which used the city's Grandhotel Pupp in different guises.

The Ten Rules of the Karlovy Vary Drinking Cure.
Karlovy Vary thermal water is a complex, highly concentrated mixture of natural substances. It is not designed for ongoing or uncontrolled use.
1. It is recommended to use Karlovy Vary thermal mineral water only after consulting a spa physician with appropriate erudition
2. To achieve maximum therapeutic effects, it is recommended to use Karlovy Vary thermal mineral water nearby the places where springs flow open.
3. It is recommended to use Karlovy Vary thermal mineral water only from traditionally shaped porcelain or glass cups.
4. It is not advised to combine a therapeutic cure with the consumption of alcohol or tobacco smoking. Passive smoking should be avoided too.
5. Drinking cure includes physical activity too. It is recommended to digest Karlovy Vary thermal mineral water while walking slowly.
6. Drinking cure should be taken when you feel fully relaxed and not in a hurry.
7. It is recommended to repeat drinking cure at intervals set by your physician.
8. Drinking cure is a small ceremony during which other clients must not be disturbed.
9. Mineral water cannot be used to water surrounding plants or be discharged onto the colonnade floor.
